Formosa Milonga) 12 / 13-19 World tour - Taipei 7 master classes, private lessons, idilia Argentinian fashion brand, Master Show and DJ in milonga The blossoms of today’s Argentine Tango in Taiwan weren't easy but we are very fortunate to have many visiting maestros’ nourishing and inspiriting. Claudia & Esteban are one of the key couple with strong connection with us. Their artistic partnership has been continuous for 25 years and their dance has the brilliance of a dream. They are part of a generation that has recovered the tango and that have accompanied it in its renovation, creating the conditions for its current popularity. Inheritors of the greatest Tango Maestros of the 80s and 90s, trained by the great witnesses of tango’s Golden Age of the forties. Between the pure tango inheritance and search of evolution of this dance, they have created a style which has been transformed into a reference for the new generations of dancers and teachers of tango. In 2002 they create, and since then direct, Union Tanguera. Claudia and Esteban continue their formative, artistic and pedagogical work of tango teaching, in workshops and various tango event in the world. |
World Champion of Tango Salon 2009
Hiroshi & Kyoko Yamao (Performance on M5. Global Milonga) Attracted by each other’s tango, Hiroshi and Kyoko began dancing together in 2003. In 2006, the couple traveled to Buenos Aires, where they studied both stage and salon tango under Carlos and Rosa Perez, Fabian Pelarta and Valentina Villarroel. During their stay abroad, the couple was asked to dance at variety of milonga, as well as government sponsored festivals. Out of 570 couples in the 2007 Campeonato de Baile de Tango Metoropolitano, the couple placed 9th in the salon division and 4th in the milonga division. In the August Campeonato Mundial de Baile de Tango, the couple finished 6th in the salon division and 3rd in the stage division, being the first foreign couple to place in all four divisions. This outstanding performance allowed the couple to participate in Almorzando con Mirtha Regrand, following which they returned to Japan. After triumphing in the 2008 Championship of Asia, Hiroshi and Kyoko proceeded to win the 2009 Campeonato Mundial de Baile de Tango; they stand proud as the first foreign couple to ever win. Currently, Hiroshi and Kyoko travel around the world, receiving high praise for not just their dancing, but their teaching skills as well. |
Susan Su
(M1 : Dec 14th, 2017 (Thu.) 21:00-24:00) Susan from Taiwan started studying tango music since year 2005 and has being playing music constantly in milongas such as Tanguisimo Tango Space, La Vida, Milonga Asi. She prefers breezy and sweet style which enables dancers to enjoy dancing in each embrace. She has been invited to several big events such as 2012 Taipei Tango Festival 2014 Pablo y Noelia Taipei Workshops 2015 Cristina Sosa y Daniel Nacucchio workshop 2015 Tango Queen Duo (Taipei). |
Jaco Chen
(M2 : Dec 15th, 2017 (Fri.) 14:00-18:00) After encountering Argentine Tango in year 2012, Jaco was fascinated with music and started to understand more music and orchestra. In 2014, he began to collect more and more music and tried to play music. His selections focus on golden age music with the hope to please every dancers and make them enjoy each tanta. Currently Jaco plays music periodically in Wednesday milonga and Sunday Practica tango y cafe in Tanguisimo, Practica Sacale Punta every Tuesday, A Practilonga every Thu., and Milonga La Vida on Saturdays. |
Lampis
(M3 : Dec 15th, 2017 (Fri.) 20:30-02:00) Lampis has been fascinated by tango and continuously tries to expand his understanding of this complex art form. Playing the right tanda at the right time is critical for an emotionally fulfilling evening of dancing and he aims to achieve exactly that with his music selections. Lampis focuses on traditional music that keeps the dancers on the floor until the very end of the milonga. He has been DJing for the past ten years in multiple events all over the world. |
Ian Shao
(M4 : Dec 16th, 2017 (Sat.) 14:00-18:00) He first encountered Argentinian tango in 2011. With a classical piano training and the love in Jazz and Classical music, he has not only become very passionate in dance but in tango music as well which leads him starting DJ in 2013 and soon become one of the most energetic Djs in Taipei tango scenes. Besides as a regular DJ at the Taipei oldest milonga –Tanguisimo Taipei since 2013. Since 2014 he has been djaying in Asia longest running event Taipei Tango Festival. Because his music selection is driven by the energy and musicality from the dance floor, Since 2016 he has been improvises music selection on the go. Anibal Troilo is his favorite, but his repertoire does not stop in Golden Age period. If spicing up the milonga with exquisite pieces from guardia vieja and post- epoca d'oro is his secret hobby, then finding a perfect tanda to keep dancers dancing would be his ultimate pleasure. |
Lungkuei Lin
(M5 : Dec 16th, 2017 (Sat.) 20:30-02:00) Lung-Kuei Lin is one of the most highly respected DJs in Taiwan and North America, and is constantly invited to festivals and marathons around the countries in Asia and North America. He has developed a delicate sensitivity toward what makes a Milonga goes well. He now based in Taipei and DJs regularly in all local Milongas. Lung-Kuei’s smooth, thoughtful approach to tango music has delighted many tanguera/os, and earned him a place on the DJ roster of some of the most notable milongas in both Asia and North America. Esteban Moreno
(M7 : Dec 17th, 2017 (Sun.) 20:30-02:00) Esteban is the globaly recognized Argentine Tango choreographer, dancer, director of Union Tanguera Cia. His extensive knowledge of the tango, the research on techniques, studies of movement, music and theater experience have kept him as most popular teachers (together with Claudia Codega). In addition, his tastes of music and capability of playing great music to manage the milonga flow is highly valued. Esteban began to play music in practicas several years after he started his tango. Beside giving workshops and performances in many world-known festivals, he was also invited as DJ in festival such as Invierno Tango Festival. |
Leonel Chen
(M8 : Dec 18th, 2017 (Mon.) 21:00-01:00 ) Leonel Chen is based in Seoul, Korea. He has been DJing for more than 10 years. He was a regular DJ at Tango O Nada, and has played music at many tango events. Through teaching and organizing DJ workshops and conferences, he has raised the awareness of the importance of DJs and has helped the growth of a new generation of DJs. Leonel is originally from Hong Kong; his partner is Florencia Han, who is Korean. Together they organize the annual Seoul Tango Festival and El Bulin Tango. |
Sophie Chan
(M9 : Dec 19th, 2017 (Tue.) 21:00-24:00) Sophie Chan was introduced to tango in the year 2008 and fascinated by mysterious charm of tango music immediately. Mystic charm of tango motivates her tried to expand her understanding of tango music and history tirelessly ever since. She emphasizes fluidity. She observes the dance floor carefully and adjusts music according to the energy to encourage dancers to express their emotions and musicality through the dance. She djayed regularly in Taipei. She was also invited to DJ in local milongas in Korea, Philipine and San Francesco. |

Akiyoshi & Noriko are one of the most famous tango dance couple in Japan.Their tango style is dramatic and graceful, filling poetic sentiment of tango.
They began to dance tango from 1990, and found the Tango Project Japan in 1999. They have organized tango workshop"Tango Week in Tokio" inviting famous tango maestros from 2000. They have organized tango show "Street Tango" with Ryota Komatsu(Bn). They are skilled tango teachers who teach not only in japan but also in foreign countries and excellent tango dancer who invited for tango show. They are the champion of 3rd Tango Dance World Championship in Asia stage category. In the year 2010, they opened Studio La Baldosa Tokyo and keep making effort to train younger tango dancers. From 2004, every year They join the Taipei Tango Festival . Akiyoshi is a vice-chairman of FJTA(Federación Japonesa de Tango Argentino) which is the only one in Japan, the A general incorporated association which has the largest tango teacher's association. |
Congratulations to 20 years of tango in Taiwan!
Florencia & Leonel have been visiting the Taipei tango community since early 2000's. The first time they performed together was in Taipei Tango Festival in 2006. They met many of their tango teachers and friends in tango events in Taiwan. The Taipei tango community was crucial in their growth and they have many fond memories. They are very excited to be part of this celebration. Florencia studied ballet in college. She was a professional performer in musicals for 8 years. She joined the 2004 World Tango Championship in Buenos Aires and won second prize in the stage section. She was a judge of the Asian Tango Championship in Japan in 2009 and 2010. Leonel is originally from Hong Kong and speaks fluent Chinese. He lived in the US and won first prize at the 2002 USA Tango Championship. They started teaching tango in Korea in 2005, and founded their own tango studio El Bulin. They have brought many foreign dancers to Korea by organizing the annual Seoul Tango Festival, one of the most important tango festivals in Asia. |
Sae & Juan Carlos, 2007 Asian Salon Tango Champions and World Salon Tango finalist in 2007 and 2010, are professional instructors/dancers and the organizers of Milongas and Tango Events in Tokyo. In 2011, they founded the Traditional Argentine Tango Dance School & Studio Muse in Tokyo. They are invited to teach and promote traditional tango dance all over Japan and Asia. They have performed at many of the most traditional and prestigious milongas in Buenos Aires, and the local milongueros have given them enthusiastic ovation for their outstanding performances. Now their traditional dance style, embodying passion and elegance, is bringing them international praise.

Tzu-Han & Kyoko teach and perform regularly in Tokyo. They believe in the importance of continuous study and improvement. After securing a base of strong fundamentals under DNI’s Dana Frigoli, they started learning from other maestros, incorporating elements and techniques that fit the dance they are creating together. Recently, they are studying the heart of the dance with Javier Rodríguez, from whom they absorb the feeling and culture of tango. Concurrently, they are studying the beautiful and dynamic flow to be found within tango from Noelia Hurtado & Carlitos Espinoza.
While teaching their own classes in Tokyo 5 days a week, they are regularly invited to do workshops at other studios. They have given classes or performances in Niigata, Nagoya, Osaka, Mantova, Elba, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tianjin, Dalian, Shanghai, Singapore, Taipei, Seoul, and Buenos Aires. They performed at Taiwan Tango Festival 2011, White Tango Festival in Moscow 2013, Mantova International Tango Festival 2014, Korea Romantic Tango Week 2016, Singapore International Tango Festival 2016, Shanghai Tango Marathon 2016, Saigon Tango Festival 2016, and Seoul Tango Festival 2017. They were guest artists at the Elba World Tango Festival in Italy 2015 and 2017. |
Vivian Yeh, Founder of TangoBang, the first Tango School in Shanghai, has been teaching and organizing Argentina Tango class / workshop / performance since 2008 in Shanghai. She was the finalist in the competition of Metropolitano in Buenos Aires in 2013. She has been invited to perform and teach at some of the most important Tango Festivals in Asia.
Vivian loves dancing and started Ballet since age 5, she's been actively exploring popular dance formats. Vivian has a strong background in music which represent strong musicality and dynamics in her dance. As the principle timpanist with Taipei Philharmonic orchestra and Taiwan Wind Ensemles, she's been tour in Europe / US / Asia since 2000. Nicolas Marini, currently organizes TangoBang with Vivian, began his career as a dancer in the South of the province of Buenos Aires at the age of 15 years. It is emphasized in his career called Tangueria (milonga of districts) was considered his place of education. Do not have any restriction on genre-"the tango is everything, it is the beginning and the course of life, exactly consider it a lifestyle". In 2011, he started his career as a choreographer and teacher in several cities in countries such as Chile, Uruguay, Mexico, El Salvador and Paraguay undertaking his first trips. In the years 2012 and 2013, he won the first place in Salon category in the Mundial del Tango in La Plata division. |
